This is a letter I've dreaded writing for a long time. I tried pretending that this day would never come, but in many ways I've also known that we were closer to this day than further from it.
I'll just go ahead and rip the band-aid off: the Sneak Attack! podcast is coming to an end.
Effective immediately, we are no longer producing new serialized episodes or Quarantine Content. This was probably one of the hardest decisions we've collectively ever had to make, and is not one that was made lightly. To be honest, I believe that the reason why we held out hope of a normal return for as long as we did is because we all wanted so desperately to show the same love and support to the fans who have shown us so much over the years.
I want to make one thing clear right away, and that is that this decision was not the result of any one person, of any in-fighting, or any drama that might be hidden from the rest of the world. The five of us all still love and value our friendships very much, and are so grateful for the role Sneak Attack! played in bringing us closer together. The decision to end Sneak Attack! was a result of us having a tough conversation about what we wanted for our respective futures, and how Sneak Attack! fit into those desires.
We talked about whether or not we should continue the show, and decided that above all else we would only keep the show going if it was a unanimous decision.
No such decision was made.
I don't want to spend a lot of time dwelling on the negative because there is simply so much positive that has come from this show. I've met amazing people from all over the world who have grown to become real, authentic friends in my life. I've gotten the amazing opportunity to be featured in numerous Wizards of the Coasts podcasts, and even got to chat with people directly involved with the creation of the game we love so much (thanks Greg Tito!). I have nothing but the most sincere joy and gratitude for what the past five years have brought.
While this is the end of the podcast, I am excited to announce that myself, Mike, and our illustrator Adam are hard at work on a Sneak Attack! graphic novel that will finish the story of Volume 2 and provide closure to the story of the Arrowhead Galaxy. We don’t have much in the way on concrete information yet, but we will be launching a Kickstarter later this year with the hope of putting it in your hands in 2021. While I know it’s not the ending we all hoped for, I am confident that the graphic novel will provide great closure to the show in a new and exciting medium for us to tell stories in.
Now, I couldn't possibly make a post about the good things that have grown from this show's existence without first mentioning the amazing cast members I've had the privilege of creating stories with for the last five and a half years. Each and every one of you inspire me each and every day, and you have all grown to become four of the best friends any DM could ever ask for.
Secondly, Sneak Attack! would not be what it is today without you: the fans. Born out of two tables awkwardly shoved together in my tiny eat-in kitchen, Sneak Attack! grew to worldwide recognition seemingly overnight because of how passionate and loving the community is. I see new people welcomed into the fold with open arms on an almost daily basis, and it warms my heart to know that the fans are so committed to being inviting, inclusive, and friendly towards one another.
To anyone who ever listened to our show, thank you so much for inviting me and my friends into your homes. It's been the honor of my life to share my stories with you all, and one I will never forget.
